Time of Reinvention
Preamble:
I am late to the class when it comes to reading “real” books. I only picked up my first personal growth book 4 years ago (2016) when my life was turning on its head. Before then it was fiction all the way. Having started my own personal growth journey a year later, I discovered the amazing information that is out there. And I wonder where was I living to have missed out on such wonderful knowledge that could have saved so much pain. What I have come to realise is that things happen for you when you are ready – “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”. My mind was not open to discovery in this area prior to this time but once opened, its like Pandora’s box. Leading me to mention my current book in toe “Think and Grow Rich”, by Napoleon Hill.
Consider the Adventure Ahead:
I have realised over my years on this earth that everything is in cycles. The sea ebbs and flows, and so too does everything else. Economy up & down, happy times and sad times, stocks rise and fall, good summers and not so good etc. And while we are in this current state of down, there is comfort in knowing and trusting that this too shall pass. Comfort is what helps our minds relax. Takes us out of flight or fight. Allows us to revert back into its natural state of autopilot. But if we consider that the view on the other side is yet unknown, we should be excited as well.
“Think and Grow Rich” was published in 1937 a short time after the impact of the Great Depression. The following are pieces of text from one page “Never..has there been so great an opportunity for practical dreamers as now exists.. A new race is about to be run…we now live in a Changed World..is demanding new ideas, new ways of doing things, new leaders, new inventions, new methods of teaching……”.
Well that was then, and this is now! It’s the same thing. Repeated over. But this time it is OUR piece of history, Our Great depression.
With every massive upheaval, comes rebirth. Call it the new normal or whatever terms will be swung around in the coming months. Everything is up for redefinition. Including YOU! You get to decide. Will you embrace the unknown opportunities that will flood with this rebirth, or stay stuck in old methods clinging to the old life, wishing and reminiscing in a fixed way?
While knowing is comfort, knowing is not bringing growth. And I realise half way through my life (assuming I have a good 40 years left!), that it’s all about growth. It’s not the “just do enough to get through each day” concept we have been raised through. It’s not just live for the holidays. It’s about how can you grow in each day and become the best version of yourself, and offer the best to the world in the process? So that when you look back in later years, you can see clearly and say what role you played. What lies ahead is unknown, And it’s exciting.
A Time for Action:
With all that in mind, I have re-birthed myself to focus in on helping women in business. I had been playing around with it lightly but am committed now fully to helping women entrepreneurs create and build their dream business. To make money and make impact. To put their passion into play; to be part of the history of our recovery process. To be part of the new economy, having a positive impact.
